Plant Senescence Biology Research Team

BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

The team includes Professor Pang Xuequn, Professor Zhang Zhaoqi and Dr. Zhang Xuelian. They are fixed members of the State Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Subtropical Agricultural Biological Resources, the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Fruit and Vegetable Preservation, or the Engineering Research Center of the Southern Ministry of Education for the Preservation of Horticultural Products. The team used lychee, longan, bananas, tomatoes, cabbage and other fruits and vegetables as materials to study the chlorophyll, anthocyanin, carotenoid and other pigment metabolism mechanisms and key factors of regulation during the subsequent ripening and aging process. The team members presided over 973 projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 1 national fund international exchange key project, and more than 10 national fund projects. Published more than 50 SCI papers in internationally renowned journals such as Plant Physiology; Food Chemistry, Journal of Experimental Botany, BMC plant Biology, etc. Among them, the paper published on Plant Physiology about the laccase involved in the degradation of anthocyanins in litchi peel is a litchi research The highest impact factor paper published in the field. Team members won 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked 5th), 2 first prizes of Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked 3 and 7 respectively) and 7 authorized patents. In teaching, the team members lectured on plant physiology, principles of fruit and vegetable preservation, plant development physiology, horticultural culture, food safety and quality management, and advanced plant physiology, and hosted a provincial resource sharing excellent course project.
