Area of Expertise

Dr. Shen now focuses on the molecular genetic basis of the key traits associated with utilization of indica and japonica inter-subspecific hybrid vigor, especially the molecular mechanisms for hybrid incompatibility, different day flowering time andstigma exsertion between indica and japonica; He is aslo interested in developing new technologies for modern breeding in crops.
